True Stories: Court Heyborne | Built for Battle

One line stopped Marine Corps veteran Court Heyborne in his tracks.

"If you're not perfect, this is the perfect brand for you."

For Court, it wasn't just a slogan. It felt like someone finally understood his story.

"It felt like it was written for me," he says. "I've messed up. I've been through it. But I've never stopped trying to become better."

That's exactly why True Victory exists.

Our mission is to build everyday champions through grit, purpose, and positive change. Not because we're perfect—but because we're committed to becoming better every day.

Court's journey hasn't been easy.

After retiring as an infantry machine gunner in the Marine Corps, he transitioned into managing construction of the new Utah State Correctional Facility. On the outside, life looked successful. Behind the scenes, he was battling PTSD, navigating a divorce, drinking to cope, and steadily gaining weight.

Then came a wake-up call.

After posting about going for a run on social media, one of his old Marine buddies challenged him with a blunt comment.

"I got called out. I didn't like it. But I needed it."

"That moment made me take accountability. I needed discipline again. Marines are always ready for the call, and I had failed to maintain that physical and mental readiness. I needed to be a leader for my two boys and set an example."

That was the turning point.

He committed to the gym. He changed the way he thought. He started rebuilding his life one decision at a time.

Then he discovered True Victory.

"It just popped up on my Instagram. Veteran-owned. Built on discipline, purpose, and staying true to yourself. It just meshed."

But it was that one sentence that stayed with him.

"If you're not perfect, this is the perfect brand for you."

"That gave me permission to show up as I am—to struggle, to fail, and to keep trying."

"That's life. That's fatherhood. That's manhood. Being #AlwaysTrue doesn't mean getting it right every time. It means owning your mistakes, learning from them, and staying committed."

Today, Court shares his journey through his Instagram account, @heybornemen, where he encourages honest conversations about health, fatherhood, resilience, and personal discipline.

"You can't force people to change, but you can let them watch you. Leaders lead by example. They don't force change—they influence it. Sometimes just talking about accountability, fitness, or mindset sparks something in someone else."

His entire family now wears True Victory.

His boys may not fully understand what the logo represents today, but they're watching something far more important than a brand. They're watching their father consistently choose discipline over excuses, growth over comfort, and purpose over perfection.

That's the legacy he hopes to leave them.

"Even when you're down, even when life gets messy, you don't quit. You stay true to who you are. You stay true to your purpose."

That's what being #AlwaysTrue is all about.

Because you don't have to be perfect to become the person you were created to be.

You just have to keep showing up.
